Chris has an extensive background and has developed his craft through, first studying privately, then commuting to downtown Toronto, studying under the guidance of the Toronto Percussion Centre’s program in Toronto, Canada.
Chris is a strong advocate for private studies. “I believe that an aspiring musician can learn a great deal from a very-focused, customized music program. I ensure that my student is comfortable and learns at a pace that is conducive to maximize their capacity to learn, as well as their overall progress.”
Starting professional session work at the age of 16, it wasn’t long before Chris was juggling his school studies with live performances. At the age of 18, Chris was playing professionally paid venues and joined the TMA (Toronto Musicians Association) to ensure that there were no opportunities missed that required unionized players. Soon after joining the TMA, Chris embarked on several North American tours with a few different acts.
Chris continues to study the great Drummers of today. His influences (to name a few), include; Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Vinnie Colaiuta, Danny Carey, Neil Peart, Tony Williams, John Bonham, Steve Gadd… the list goes on (there are too many to list). In addition to the famous influences, new and upcoming drummers also provide inspiration. “The upcoming generation of Drummers are absolutely awesome.”
Chris provides private lessons from a home studio and also offers on-site lessons for students that prefer to study from their own location. In addition to offering on-site lessons, Private online lessons are available.
In addition to teaching, Chris is currently active within the music industry in the Southern Ontario region working with several acts. The venues range from 10,000 people, at an outdoor festival, or a house-packed rock club venue, or a small intimate Jazz club. The music scene is alive. #LosCabosDrumsticks #LCDArtistFam
